Pete’s Mini Zine Fest is this Saturday, July 21st!
Did the Brooklyn Zine Fest whet your appetite for the printed word and image? Luckily, you don’t have to wait until BZF 2013 to feast again. This Saturday, July 21st brings Pete’s Mini Zine Fest, a gathering of 25+ writers and artists at Pete’s Candy Store in Williamsburg. Co-organized by BZF tabler Marguerite Dabaie (The Hookah Girl), this event combines a love of self-published works with an appreciation of the outdoors — many of the tables will be out on Pete’s backyard patio, so you can pick up some zines and read them in the sunshine.
Bonus: Marguerite will be doing a comics workshop at 5pm on Pete’s performance stage. We’ve read pretty much all of her comics and can assure that if you’re looking to make your own (or just appreciate others’), you won’t want to miss this. Here’s how she tells it:
“I’ll be going over how to create comics–from the initial idea to finally getting it down on paper–and how to make your DIY books ultra faboo. I’ll also talk about how basically any subject you choose can be made into a comic and do a little art demo.”
