Amazingly zine-y menu from upcoming NYC Alamo Drafthouse
Gothamist just pointed out this awesome cut-and-paste, zine-inspired menu design for the upcoming NYC location of the beloved movie theater Alamo Drafthouse. Sure, you could get a whole armload of zines for the cost of a white bean hummus and the beet salad, and some may see this as a mini-chain falsely projecting DIY, but we’re big fans of the Alamo and see this design as embracing a style we all know and love.
From their programming of weird, great films to actually kicking people out for texting during movies, we were already excited for the Alamo’s first New York City location to open next year, and seeing this just whets our appetite even more. Hopefully the menu changes regularly, and we’ll get a “new issue” every season!
If this reads like an overexcited promotional post, it’s just because we love watching movies in great venues, and can’t wait for this place to fill the impending hole in our hearts.
I was so thrilled to pass by the soon-to-be-Alamo-Drafthouse while rumbling around Symphony Space the other day. Hot Stuff. Wish it was in my neck of Brooklyn, but I suppose that’s what Odin made the 2 train for.
There will be one in Downtown Brooklyn next year (apparently, hopefully)!
