Thanks for making a food zine with us at the Brooklyn Museum, folks!
Last night we had a blast putting together pages for a community-sourced food zine as part of Brooklyn Museum First Saturdays. We had dozens of collaborators across two sessions (apologies to anyone who wasn’t able to get a ticket from the Museum — space was limited!), writing, collaging, scrapbooking, and generally making a bunch of beautiful pages with recipes, food stories, and culinary creeds like “Play With Your Food.”
(Matt’s personal favorite page: deconstructed photos of David Bowie collaged around a recipe for Lazy Man’s Salad.)
We also got to promote the Brooklyn Zine Fest 2013 (Sunday, April 21st!) to a lot of people we wouldn’t have normally reached, and a few people were discovering zines for the very first time. Thanks very much to Lauren and Alicia, and the rest of the First Saturdays team, for putting this great event together, and to Ayun of The East Village Inky for keeping the energy up all evening.
Over the next few weeks Malaka and Claire from The Runcible Spoon will be scanning and laying out pages for the finished zine. You’ll be able to see the final project on the Brooklyn Museum’s website, and we’ll put a link here when it’s complete. Bon appétit!
Hooray! My fiance is famous! Or at least his salmon sandwich zine page is! :DIt was so much fun! So glad we came!See ya’ll in two weeks!Smiles,Jenipher
